The Effect of Bicycle Saddle Widths on Saddle Pressure in Female Cyclists
نویسندگان
چکیده
Choosing an unsuitable bicycle saddle increases the pressure and discomfort during cycling. Women contract sports injuries more easily than men cycling owing to their anatomy. To investigate effect of widths on in female cyclists. Ten healthy women with average age 20.7 ± 1.3 years, height 162 5.9 cm, weight 56.1 7.5 kg, a sciatic bone width 15.5 1.4 cm were recruited for this study. The distributions four different (i.e., narrow, moderate, wide, self-chosen) recorded using mat. Participants instructed pedal steadily frequency 90 RPM load 150 watts. Thirty seconds riding data was randomly retrieved analysis. trials conducted counter-balanced design minimize random errors. One-way repeated measures ANOVA used compare widths, significance level set at α = 0.05. When wide saddles used, maximum right surface posterior ischium lower those narrow (p 0.001, p 0.012) moderate 0.016, 0.019) saddles. area pubic smaller when 0.005) 0.018) saddles, larger under 0.017) 0.036) force greater 0.008) self-chosen 0.025) Using that is longer cyclist’s by 1 can effectively improve distribution riding, while providing better comfort.

متن کاملGender differences in bicycle saddle pressure distribution during seated cycling.
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of gender, power, hand position, and ischial tuberosity (IT) width on saddle pressure during seated stationary cycling. METHODS Twenty-two experienced cyclists (11 males and 11 females) were fitted to an adjustable stationary bicycle and pedaled at 100 and 200 W in both the tops and drops hand positions. An instrumented p...
